Floor Mounting
Mounting to the Floor
Some systems require that the unit be drilled into the floor of the room. These are generally systems that rely on spring mechanisms. Mounting a Murphy bed unit into the floor provides grounded stability and truly makes your Murphy bed a fixture in your home, but it is important to note the long-term effects of mounting on your floor. Most floor-mount systems call for a solid mounting surface, requiring any carpeting to be cut away which can permanently damage your floor. In addition to marking your floors, floor mount systems are difficult, if not impossible to move once installed.
The aFalse Floora Option
There are several Murphy bed manufacturers that offer a afalse floora option, where the Murphy bed is attached to a specifically cut piece of plywood, which is then attached to the wall or baseboards. This option is ideal for those who have settled on a Murphy bed requiring floor mounting, but want to preserve the appearance of their flooring.

QUESTION:
How do these Ikea beds and mattresses work?
okay first of all, what are these things? their called slatted bed bases, what are they for? whats their purpose? and i don't understand are they supposed to bend the mattress or something? how is that possible, i know i sound kind of dumb but well i've never seen that, and do ikea bed frames fit regular mattreses from other stores or do i need to buy one of thiers? here's a link to the bed bases, thanks.http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/range/10376/10635/
I'm talking about the one where it is bend at the tip with a remote, like it's supposed to raise the mattress or something.-
ANSWER:
The wood slats go across you normal, everyday bedframe. The mattress is a spring based mattress. The bottom portion of the mattress is spring loaded. This way you don't need a seperate box spring and regular mattress. Kinda like what is found on a bunk bed. We have two.
Update: I looked at the remote controlled base you are talking about. Yes it will bend the mattress. I would buy a mattress from them that is designed to go with that base. If their mattresses are too expensive, at least call their customer support and see what kind of mattress it is that they suggest use.
Good luck.

QUESTION:
Im buying a bed from Ikea, do i need to buy 2 slatted bed bases?
I am buying a double bed from Ikea, the slatted bed bases you have to buy to go with it are half the measurement of the bed, the bed is 140x200 and the bases are 70x200, do i need to buy two? or will there be enough slats for both sides?-
ANSWER:
Are you sure you're looking at the right base? They come in different sizes for the different sized beds. The double bed base measurements should be similar to the measurements of the bed.
You may want to ask Ikea's customer service for help in finding the right item.

QUESTION:
How sturdy are IKEA beds?
I am thinking about getting an IKEA bed. The headboard foot board and bedsides are made of steel and the midbeam is made of galvanized steal, but I have to also buy a slatted bed base which is made of wood, and I don't know how well it will hold up long term. The frame itself is very thin, and doesn't look very sturdy. This link might be helpful.http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S79839331
Thank you for your time.

ANSWER:
I have an Ikea bed.For the first couple of months since we got it, it was fine, but after a while, it started to squeak a bit every time I went to lie down on it.
It's really strong, and sturdy.
But then again, I have one of those wood (or "wood") beds, so I'm not sure if a steel one like the one you might get will be as sturdy.

QUESTION:
Can I build tanning base by using tanning beds for couple of weeks before my vacation in the sun?
I am very white and get burned very easily in the sun. If I use a tanning bed, would it help me build a tanning base and protect me from burning badly in real sun on my Jamaican vacation?-
ANSWER:
i am very pale also. I've done that a few times when going below the equator. It helped me a lot. Just start out with a very low time, and go up each visit. I am not sure about the whole spray on thing but I am sure either would be better than getting burnt.
