Visco Foam Mattress

A visco foam mattress can help you get a good night's sleep.  It does this because of its unique ability to reduce pressure points, while providing firm, comfortable support.  It conforms to the shape of your body and reduces any gaps between yourself and the mattress that can cause muscle aches and stiffness.  You wake up feeling like you've had a great night's sleep.

The way visco elastic foam works is that it conforms to the natural heat and weight of your body. Because we sleep in different positions, we are likely to have different pressure points, but this elastic foam mattress helps to reduce or even eliminate those pressure points that can cause you to be restless during the night and wake up feeling stiff and achy.  This mattress is also very effective in reducing bed sores so some hospitals have invested in them or Visco mattress toppers to make their patients more comfortable.

Another advantage is that the foam material is less likely to harbor dust mites.  If you've ever seen a magnification of a dust mite, this is good news indeed.  But, more significantly, these microscopic insects are the cause of allergic reactions and respiratory problems. A traditional box spring and mattress is likely to be overrun with these little critters.  In my mind, that's reason enough to invest in a mite resistant elastic foam mattress.

There are some drawbacks, however, to this type of bedding and one of them is heat.  Because the material is heat sensitive, it traps your body heat in its cells making the heat build up.  This might be good in the winter, but not so good during the summer months.  In order to alleviate this issue Visco has come up with a technology of cutting groves into the surface of the mattress so that the trapped heat can circulate easier and be released.

Another issue that some may consider to be a problem is that this material is much heavier than a regular mattress and box springs.  However, once you have the mattress in place, it should not be a problem because it never needs to be turned.  You don't have to worry about that back-breaking activity.

If you're going to buy a Visco foam mattress do your homework and make sure you don't get one from an imitation manufacturer.  Some of the imitations use formaldehyde which can cause headache, respiratory problems and other allergic reactions.
